Cherkassy: Fountains Hibernation
The Cherkassy fountains work will be suspended for the winter period. Thus, according to Alexander Booth, head of the department of water supply and sewage pumping stations of the company, the exact date when the fountains "hibernate" is determined taking into account the weather conditions.
"When the rains start, people visit vacation spots near the fountains less and less, then we pump out the water and dismantle the equipment," - sais Alexander.
Usually this rocedure is carried out by the staff of City Water Supply company in October. In winter workers of Cherkasky Water Supply examine and if necessary repaire motors and pumps in order to start running fountains in spring without problems. A new season traditionally starts in April.
The only fountain, which will work in winter is the one on the square in front of City Council. The illusion of running water will be created with the help of a special lighting.
Totally Cherkassy Water Supply "cares" about eight fountains of the city: in front of Cherkassy City Council, at 700th Anniversary Square, behind the Regional Council, in the Park of Chemists, two more in the Roses Valley and another two at the Cathedral Square.
